These days, it can be rare to say the words “travel agent” and not get this type of response:
With all the technology that has developed over the last decade, it’s become our natural instinct to do everything ourselves — usually with the simple click of a button.
However, just because you CAN do something, doesn’t necessarily mean you SHOULD. And this old cliche definitely applies to the task of planning a vacation.
I can’t speak for every travel agency out there, but I can speak for us — BlueSun Vacations.
5 Myths About Travel Agents:
1. It’s easier to book without a Travel Agent.
Not every All Inclusive is the same, so it’s important to find an expert who’s knowledgeable about where you’re going, what you’re doing, how much you’re paying, what airline you’re using, etc., etc.
Travel agents have equity with the brands they sell. They know the personality of the resort, the vibe of the area, the faces behind the desks and, a lot of the time, they’ve even visited the properties themselves.
So, even though it seems easier to click the “purchase” button online, it’s worth your time and energy to connect with a travel agent who has your back from start to finish.
2. There are cheaper prices online.
Simple — we price match. So, any deal you run into online can be applied to a trip you book through a travel agent.
3. Travel agents will manipulate me to buy something I don’t want.
Ironically, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
If you don’t enjoy your resort, this is a reflection on your travel agent’s advice to you. Wouldn’t it be in a travel agent’s best interest to book you the best possible trip?
4. Travel agents will charge me extra fees for their services.
Did you know that it doesn’t cost you anything to use a travel agent?
Most don’t realize this, but you aren’t paying for a travel agent’s services. So why not utilize an expert who can find you the best hotel and flight bundle?
5. All Travel Agents are the same.
Not every travel agent is the same.
In your lifetime, you may come across a negative situation with a travel agent. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish that were not the case.
But at the end of the day, it’s important to know that not every travel agent is manipulative and pushy. They’re worth trying out.
