7 Reasons To Travel To The Dominican Republic Next Year

You know that feeling when you buy your significant other the perfect present and you just need Christmas to get here ASAP?!

That’s pretty accurate to how I’ve been feeling about my latest trip to the Dominican. It was epic to say the least. I specifically visited Punta Cana, Cap Cana and La Romana to check out the top resorts, beaches and excursions that you can do while visiting there.

Now I want everyone and their mom to go to this destination.

Not only are there countless reasons to travel to an All Inclusive this next year, but even more so to the Dominican Republic.

7 Reasons To Travel To The Dominican Republic Next Year

1. The Beaches

Did you know the Caribbean beaches are some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world? In Punta Cana especially they are wide with golden sands and have some of the most crystal clear, turquoise water I’ve ever seen.

2. Excursions

Okay, if you go to the Dominican, you have to do one of the many excursions they offer!! Here were my favorites from my trip:

  • Snorkeling (off the coast of La Romana)

When we visited the resort, Dreams La Romana, we took a catamaran and stopped at a sandbar where we snorkeled. The water was so clear, you could see so many fish!

On the boat there was drinks and dancing, it was a blast.

  • Catamaran ride to a private island (near La Romana)

We also took a catamaran to a private island near La Romana. There we had a private lunch and drinks and got to lounge on the beach.

It was gorgeous to say the least. Here’s a picture of our lunch on the private island. Yes, that is in fact lobster.

  • Scape Park (Cenote swimming and the Blue Hole)

On this excursion, we visited a cenote where the water is insanely clear. We then went into the cave where you could stand in the water. The blue hole was 60 feet deep and you could see all the way down.

Other excursions you can do in the Dominican:

  • Catamaran cruise
  • Ziplining
  • Horseback riding
  • ATV Buggie rides

3. Tropical Landscaping

Every inch of the resorts in Punta Cana, La Romana and Cap Cana that we visited had the most beautiful tropical landscaping. You truly feel like you’re in the Caribbean and it’s an amazing cultural experience.

4. Family Friendly

I got to see some amazing resorts that would be perfect for families with both really little kids and older teens! Here were some of my favorites:

  • Luxury Bahia Fantasia
This resort would be best for families with little kids because of the water parks. The Kids Zone was in a real castle, I repeat, your kids can hang out in a castle all day! There was also a juice bar in and around the castle. There was an awesome splash park here. This resort is huge and would be perfect for a family reunion with active kids.

  • Now Onyx
This resort is perfect for families with older kids (it’s also great for active adults as well). There are plenty of options for lounging by the pool, not to mention there is both an active pool and a chill pool. The Preferred Club rooms have their own private swim-out pool with a Jacuzzi on the patio and a Bali bed just outside your door and perfect for an afternoon nap. An amazing plus to this resort is every other suite has it’s own swim-out pool too! So no matter what room you stay in, you get a little privacy as well.

5. Adults Only Getaway

Needing a trip for just the two of you? Or want to take a friends trip? I would highly suggest the Dominican Republic. You can find modern, upbeat and laid back resorts that give you that added luxury you need in your life. Here were my favorite Adults Only resorts:

  • Riu Republica
It’s modern, young and upbeat with Adults Only waterslides, Friday night foam parties and a nightclub bumping til 2am. I had the best 12oz. rib-eye that was perfectly cooked.
But if you’re not in the mood for a party, the beach is really long and deep, so you can easily escape and relax with your favorite beach read and a Coco Loco.

  • Riu Palace Bavaro
Want something more laid back? This is for an Anniversary trip or celebrating being empty-nesters. It has that old-fashioned luxury-decor vibe that will make you feel truly pampered. This resort has a really nice beach as well.

6. The Pools

Though the Dominican has noteworthy beaches, the pools will not disappoint. Whether it’s a swim-out pool from your back door or pools with swim-up bars, the Caribbean knows how to make their pools luxurious. Here were my favorite resort pools:

7. The Food

Last but not least is the food. Whether you have an eclectic pallet or you just want steak and fries, the food was served to us fresh and well cooked and decorated.
