10 Airport Hacks All Parents Need to Know Before Their Next Flight

Though fun and relaxing, vacationing has the potential to be very stressful.

From figuring out where to go, to booking the trip, to physically getting there — vacations can quickly turn into anxiety-ridden, confusing messes.

And now, throw a couple of kids into the equation.

If you’re a parent, you’ve probably experienced the stress of the airport. Below are a few hacks that will help relieve some of that stress.

10 Airport Hacks All Parents Need to Know Before Their Next Flight:

1.  Get TSA Pre-Check for the entire family.

Yes it’s an extra charge, but it’s completely worth it when you’re able to bypass the long line at security. Especially when traveling with kids, avoiding any hold times is vital to a fun trip and also to maintaining your sanity.

2. Ask if there’s a family line at security.

Certain airports have separate, expedited lines for traveling families. So before entering the main queue, it may be worthwhile to ask if one of these lines is available.

3. Bring a lot of snacks.

Not only is airport food super expensive, but snacks will keep your kids happy and occupied.

4. Bring a stroller that can be gate checked.

When you’re running through the airport with kids, a stroller can definitely come in handy. Just makes sure it’s TSA-approved and good to be gate checked.

5. Keep outfits simple and comfortable.

Even though kids don’t have to remove their shoes or jackets at security, dress them in simple clothing. Not only will they be more comfortable and less squirmy, but if they happen to spill or have an accident, they’ll be easier to change.

6. Check your bags.

When traveling with kids, you’re going to need both your hands at all times. So, check your bags.

7. Give yourself excess time.

No matter the circumstance, travel time is hard to predict. And when traveling with kids, it’s even more unpredictable. So next time you’re headed to the airport, make sure you give yourself plenty of time.

8. Check the airport for family stations.

Most airports have family and nursing stations. These come in handy, especially when you’re nursing or have small children. So, upon arrival at the airport take a second to pinpoint their locations.

9.  Bring gel clings, so your kids can decorate the airport windows.

This is so simple, so easy to pack and so distracting.

10. Bring more than you think you need.

Don’t over pack, but bring extras because you never know when there’s going to be an accident or something’s going to get lost.
