I recent had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful destination of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. While there, I got to tour various resorts, one of which was AM Resorts’ Now Onyx — one of the newest All-Inclusive resorts in the area.
Even I visited over 10 different properties, I can genuinely say that Now Onyx earned a spot in my top 5 favorites.
I would argue that Now Onyx is an excellent option for couples, friends and families alike. It has so much to offer — I can’t imagine anyone being unsatisfied! However, if it IS a family trip we’re talking about, there are a few key things to acknowledge about this particular resort.
Lobby Design
The first impression a resort makes on its guests is usually through the look of its lobby. Now Onyx has a beautifully-illuminated entrance, which is a pretty accurate indication of the way the rest of the property looks, as well.
Pool Layout
Now Onyx really stood out to me for various reasons — one being the overall layout of the outside/pool area. Everything is very spread out, which avoids the issue of feeling crowded or too close to other guests.
Here’s an aerial view of the main pool: (You’ll notice a shallow pool at the farthest edge of the resort. This placement is convenient in that parents can lay facing the ocean, while still being able to keep an eye on the kiddos!)
Then there’s the incredible Preferred Club swim-up bar area. It’s adults-only, so it’s perfect for parents to relax in together as kids do their own thing (as usual).
There’s also the Preferred Club family pool:
Room Design
Everyone is different when it comes to vacations preferences, but I think we can all agree that a relaxing vibe is preferred when it comes to a beach trip. Having seen it with my own eyes, I can assure you that the atomosphere created by Now Onyx’s interior design is, if nothing else, relaxing.
As seen in the below photos, the color scheme is very earthy and natural, with touches of bamboo decor. The resort’s aesthetic creates a very calm, serene feeling when in the room, which is exactly what a guest wants when they finally make it back for some shut-eye!
Restaurants & Bars
One of the most rewarding parts of going to an all-inclusive resort is getting to take advantage of the wide variety of dining options. Got a picky eater in the fam? Not to worry. Now Onyx has 9 different restaurant options, including cuisines like Mexican, Asian, North American, French, among others.
Here’s a glimpse at a handful of the meal spots:

Activities
Regardless of who you’re going on vacation with, it is highly-recommended to take advantage of the multitude of activities and entertainment offered at resorts. This is an easy way to make the most of your time on the trip, and if with a group (such as your family), it’s the best way to find activities you can participate in together.
