Jamaica is known for not worrying “bout a thing,” like Bob Marley always said. It’s definitely a great place to vacation and experience class-A R&R. However, Jamaica is also stockpiled with some really rocking (and maybe exhausting) excursions.
Our BeachMaster, Mike Turner, came back from a Jamaican Excursion trip raving about all the Island has to offer. He said, “By staying on resort property, you get just a small taste of all that Jamaica has to offer.” He said there’s so much to see, and there really is something for everyone! We trust him, he is a “Master”, after all.
With LIVE FOOTAGE straight from Jamaica, we’re here to share it with you.
History Buffs, Nature Freaks, Casual Tourist, Inner-Kid Adventurer, Thrill-Seekers, Animal Enthusiasts & Party Animals will all find something that floats their boat in the excursion opportunities of Jamaica.
History Buffs: the Good Hope Estates Plantation
This sugar plantation, in Falmouth, Jamaica, dates back to the 1700’s, during the Emancipation. This place carries historical tales of its residents, workers, architecture, and heritage. The guides are amazing. They will enrich you with cultural, first-hand history, unbeatable by any documentary or book. You can even dine on the lawn, overlooking an incredible mountainous view.
The full Estate property experience also includes zip lining through the jungles, river rafting & swimming, and ATV buggy rides.
Nature Freaks: Martha Brae River
Also in Falmouth is the island’s #1 rafting attraction on Martha Brae River. Guides will take you downriver, on authentic bamboo rafts (don’t worry, they’re sturdy!).
Sit back and enjoy a romantic river tour or take a fun swim break with your fam in the river. This river tour goes through 3 miles of gorgeous, overhanging forest. Add an experienced friendly guide, a complimentary fruit drink, a visit to Miss Martha’s Herb Garden, and souvenir stops along the way, for the quintessential Jamaican landscape experience.
Casual Tourists: Dunn’s River
If you always want to hit up the must see places , Dunn’s River waterfall, near Ocho Rios, is the place for you. Visited by thousands, the waterfall hike is a Jamaican treasure. Call in and ask one of our BeachMasters about it. Mike (“Michael” on our site) could tell you ALL the need-to-know’s.
Inner-kid (or actual kid) Adventurer: Dolphin Cove
While we’re talking about the Dunn’s River, you have to visit Dolphin Cove, it’s just minutes away. Their facilities are top-notch with gift shops, shows, and activities all ages will enjoy. There’s so much to do, you could make a day of it!
Swim with dolphins & knock it off your bucket list, along with chilling with sharks & stingrays, exploring the coast in mini-boats, camel rides, exotic animals & nature tours, shows & entertainment. It’s any kids’ (and inner-kids’) dream! An explosion of aquatic opportunities!
In order from the most extreme to the most easy-going:
Near Dunn’s River Falls, is a rollercoaster-like Bobsled Ride inspired by the Olympic Jamaican bobsled team. The ride is ranked as the top attraction in Ocho Rios by TripAdvisor. Safely strapped into one of the high-tech sleds, you’ll speed along the 1000-meter track down the side of the mountain. The only way to slow down is the brake in your hands.
You can’t go adventuring in Jamaica without hitting up a Zipline. The Mystic Mountain Zip Line Canopy Tour takes you 100 meters gliding through landscape with great glimpses of Ocho Rios, including Dunn’s Falls.
For a ride that takes you to new heights without the speed, take the Sky Explorer Tour in a chairlift that glides 700 feet above the Jamaican treetops. Get a glimpse of Mystic Mountain, from more of an observer point of view, and see the island of Ocho Rios, also including Dunn’s Falls.
Animal-enthusiasts: Ocean Horse Rides
In the town of Sandy Bay in western Jamaica, you can ride a horse in the ocean. Actual dreams are coming true here, people.
Party-Animals: The Dreamer Catamaran
Straight up, classic booze cruise. Staying in Montego Bay or Negril? This is right in your backyard (backocean?). With an open Jamaican bar available, you can enjoy the sights while sunbathing on the deck, or even snorkel at the tour lagoon destinations.
Mike’s trip to Jamaica was dope.
