Knowing Your Resort’s Rating System

Red Apple, Golden Apple, Apple Plus.

You may feel like you’re right in the middle of aisle 2 at Walmart when looking for hotel ratings. Whether it’s the Granny Smith vs. Pink Lady apple debacle, or a Secrets vs. Riu resorts decision, how do you choose? And is it really a fair comparison of “apples to apples”? Look no further.

Below, you’ll find Apple Vacations hotel rating system explained so that you can be in the know when you browse for All Inclusive resorts.

Cheat Sheet:

The Number Matters

Just like at a restaurant’s star rating, the number matters.  The more Apples, the better quality of accommodations, amenities, and services. A hotel rates from 1 Apple to 6 Apples. 6 is the most luxurious. The Apple rating is selected by Apple’s own staff of experts who are knowledgeable and can compare one resort against the standards of other resorts in a given destination. Example: Resorts in Punta Cana are compared against resorts in Punta Cana, no other destination. So a 5 Golden Apple resort in Jamaica may not compare to a 5 apple resort in Cancun.

The Apple +

The + sign means that the hotels offer more superior comforts than other hotels in the same category.

The Golden Apple

The rating of the “Golden” Apple reflects the views of people who have stayed there. When a rating ranks from red to gold, it means this hotel has consistently ranked highest on Apple’s customer satisfaction survey. So, when you go to a “Golden” Apple resort, you can trust the friendly traveler that’s come before you.

Current & Up to Date

It’s important to know that Apple Vacations rates their hotels every year. The rating you see is up-to-date.

What’s Right for You?

BlueSun Vacations books vacations across the board whether you’re ready to work the room & network in Cancun, take a family reunion to Jamaica, or relax in luxury with your significant other in Punta Cana.

If you’re looking for a sweet beach trip on a budget– a bed, shower, food, and gorgeous surroundings attached to a beach– a 2, 3, 4, or 4+ Apple property could be a fit for you and your wallet. But let’s get real here for a second. Even though 2 and 3 Apple properties exist does not mean we want you to spend your hard earned cash on that kind of All Inclusive trip. BeachMasters would recommend skipping that daily coffee for a while to save up to go towards that 4+ or higher rating. It WILL be worth it.

If you have an expansive “must” list, and your budget has some wiggle room —  a 5, 5+, or 6 Apple property could be for you. This is a hotel with wider amenities from restaurant variety, more bars, spas, kids’ areas, and a long list of included activities.
