Even if you’re a frequent flier, the night before a trip can be chaotic.
Not only do you have to get packed and prepared for your travels, but you have to make sure everything is in order at home. Well that and a bunch of other stuff.
So before you head out on your next adventure, create pre-trip routine. This will save you stress and ensure you’re ready to go.
9 Things to Do the Night Before a Trip:
1. Make sure all your devices are backed up.
Make sure that you back up your phone and other devices before you leave. This way, you will have enough storage space for the pictures and videos taken throughout your trip.
2. Charge your batteries.
Nothing’s worse than being in the airport or in the car with a dead phone or tablet. So, the night before setting out on your trip, make sure all devices and batteries are fully charged.
3. Download maps.
We’ve come to rely on our smartphones to navigate, but if you travel, you might find you can’t get a signal. My advice — cover all bases by downloading the maps you know you’re going to use while you’re still at home.
4. Run through your itinerary.
The night before leaving, go through your confirmations one last time to check they are all in order.
5. Make sure you have enough cash.
It’s often easier to rely on credit and debit cards these days, but pack some cash — just in case.
6. Check your meds.
Organize yourself a medical kit with any prescription medication you need to take. You can also throw in a couple over-the-counter items to deal with headaches, sore throats and indigestion.
7. Pack your bags.
This is obvious and to be honest, you should probably do this prior to the night before.
8. Settle your pets.
Whether you’ve booked a house sitter or a family member to watch your furry friends, it’s still sad to leave your beloved pets. The night before a trip, make a special fuss of them.
9. Get a good night’s sleep.
Traveling is tiring, there’s no two ways about it. Even if you’re not flying long haul, you’ll enjoy your trip a great deal more if you get a good night’s sleep beforehand.
