I Just Learned How a Starfish Walks (and I’m Kind of Freaked Out)

I can’t say that I’ve ever actively wondered how starfish walk, but I ran across a video of one doing so last night — and it’s crazy.

If I’m being honest with you, I kind of assumed that the sea creature just used their five arms to run around the ocean floor. Like, I’ve never once pictured them moving across dry land.

But guys, they have legs — like a lot of them.

Okay, they’re technically called cilia, but they act as tiny legs when used on land.

Located on the underside of their five arms, the hair-like cilia allows the sea creature to move at a pretty decent speed — well, for an animal that lives in the sea.

This is about to blow your mind.
