When it comes to vacationing, there’s no one-size-fits-all formula. What one person finds fun and relaxing, may seem stressful, tiring or downright unappealing to someone else.
For example, I like to spend my vacations in a somewhat vegetative state — aka all I want to do it eat, drink, sleep and lay out. My husband, on the other hand, likes to partake in activities like sand volleyball, ocean-side jogging and sailing.
Well, throughout the process of learning how to travel with someone who appreciates and seeks different things than I, I’ve realized that there are really only 12 types of vacationers.
No matter where you are or what you’re doing, you’re bound to run into a few (if not all) of these people.
Which one are you?
12 Types of Vacationers Everyone will Recognize:
1. The Sleeper
This person goes on vacation to sleep.
Their day-today life doesn’t allow for many Zzzs, so those five days at the beach are catch-up time. On the daily, this person requests a wake up call at noon, and then heads back to their room around three for an afternoon nap.
2. The Instagrammer
This is the person who asks you to take pictures of them in front of white walls.
In your mind, it makes no sense because walls aren’t very indicative of your vacation experience, but they argue that wall pictures look the best with a light filter and cute caption — and really, that’s all they want out of a trip.
3. The Photographer
This person is ~similar~ to The Instagrammer, but they’re more interested in getting landscape shots, family shots and detailed portraits — no walls involved.
And, you best believe that a day and a half after returning home, you’ll be seeing your face splashed all over a Facebook album entitled “Best Beach Trip Ever”.
4. The Bookworm
All this person wants to do on vacation is — you guessed it — read.
When you and your vacation buds are heading out for a little adventure, they’ll wave you off saying, “Nah, I’m just going to read under a cabana today.”
5. The Beach Bum
As the name implies, this person wants to spend every second of their vacation at the beach. No pool, no bar, no patio, no spa — just the beach.
6. The Lobster
This person gets fried on the first day of vacation, and then spend the rest of the week slathering aloe vera over their red skin, afraid to step foot into the sunlight.
7. The Flirt
This person makes friends with everyone at the swim-up bar.
They’re suave, they know how to ask the right questions and they’re really bad about disappearing for hours on end. Oh and, chances are, they’ll get a drink or two thrown in their face before the week is over.
8. The Lovebird
This person always brings their SO on vacations, and you better not count on getting any alone time with them.
They’re the ones that share a chair by the pool, and are constantly caressing each other’s backs. Basically, it’s their world and we’re all living in it.
9. The Party Animal
This person parties the night away, sleeps until four, gets up and parties again. This cycle repeats throughout the entire trip.
10. The Kid Chaser
This person doesn’t really get to relax at all.
They’re too busy chasing their kids, feeding their kids, consoling their kids, slathering sunscreen on their kids and entertaining their kids.
Eventually, towards the end of the trip, they hand the kids off to Grandma or the Explorer’s Club for the day.
11. The Foodie
As you may have guessed, this person is on vacation for the food.
They spend their trip ordering multiple courses at each meal, analyzing the components of each dish and making lots of “mmm” noises after each bite. Basically, meals are the No. 1 priority.
12. The Adventurer
This person spends their vacation doing activities. Whether that’s beach volleyball, sailing, hiking or scuba diving, they’re constantly moving.
Espero que este año, te equivoques. Porque si cometes errores, entonces estás haciendo cosas nuevas, probando cosas nuevas, aprendiendo, viviendo, empujándote a ti mismo, cambiándote a ti mismo, cambiando tu mundo.
