What Even Is A ‘Pillow Menu’?

Chances are, if you’ve ever scrolled through the list of amenities available at an All Inclusive resort, you’ve come across the words “pillow menu.”

Like most people, this was probably your reaction upon seeing that:

It seems weird, but in reality, it’s exactly what it sounds like — literally, a list of available pillow options provided by the resort.

This luxury is usually limited to Preferred Club resort-goers, so keep that in mind before you get too excited. Just make sure to let your BeachMaster know that you want this option!

Now, onto the next question. What are the different types of pillows to even choose from?

Common pillow alternatives include:

Memory Foam

Originally developed by NASA as an aircraft cushion, this polyurethane foam is pressure-sensitive and quickly molds to the shape of a body pressing against it. Once the pressure is removed, the pillow returns to its original shape.

Filled with buckwheat hulls, this natural pillow conforms to the shape of your head and neck, while staying cool all night. Most of these pillows are designed with a zipper that allows you to add or remove hulls so as to adjust to your desired thickness.

Designed to minimize the development of allergic reactions, these pillows are commonly filled with filled with silk, latex, or other synthetic materials.

Infused with herbs, potpourri, oils or other aromatic ingredients, Aromatic pillows can have soothing and calming effects on the nerves and rejuvenate the senses. Sleep-inducing ingredients that can be found in these pillows are hops, chamomile, lavender, and skullcap.

Body pillows are as long as a full adult body, providing support to the head and neck at the top and to the knees and legs lower down. These are ideal for side-sleepers or pregnant women.

These are a very common luxury pillow, as they are filled with feathers from the back, wing, and chests of geese and ducks and typically very plush, soft and warm.

Usually in the shape of a wedge or full body, these pillows support the belly and lower back and align the hips. This can help to alleviate the stress of pregnancy.
